  8. About RemoveFP:
  9.  
  10. JackFlash is not compatible with files that have been stored in
  11. Flash by FlashPro or InstallPro.  InstallPro is used by a few
  12. companies to move their software into Flash during installation.
  13. The current examples of this are: OmniSky, BackupBuddy Software,
  14. and Palm devices purchased with Hebrew support preinstalled.

  16. RemoveFP allows you to move these files to RAM, and configure the
  17. Palm so that it can be used by JackFlash.  Software originally
  18. installed by InstallPro or FlashPro will continue to work correctly
  19. after being moved to RAM.

  23. When to Use RemoveFP:
  24.  
  25. If JackFlash indicates that it has detected FlashPro on your device, 
  26. then you will need to run RemoveFP.  It will only be necessary
  27. to use this utility once.

  30. How to Use RemoveFP:
  31.  
  32. Use the Install Tool to install RemoveFP.prc on your Palm.  After 
  33. starting RemoveFP, it will indicate the steps necessary to restore 
  34. your Palm.  Tap "Remove FlashPro" to start the process.  After 
  35. confirming that FlashPro is installed, RemoveFP will show you a
  36. list of files that are currently in Flash.  These files will be 
  37. moved to RAM.  You must approve this list before the removal begins.

  39. After the files have been moved to RAM and FlashPro support
  40. has been removed, RemoveFP will display a dialog telling you
  41. to reset your Palm.  Once the Palm has been reset, you will need
  42. to perform one more HotSync in order to backup the files that
  43. have been moved to RAM.

  45. After this HotSync is complete, you can safely delete RemoveFP from
  46. your Palm, and start using JackFlash.

  49. OmniSky Users:
  50.  
  51. If you already have JackFlash on your device and you want to install
  52. or upgrade OmniSky, you will need to follow this process:
  53.  
  54.     1.  Move all files in Flash to RAM
  55.     2.  Perform the "Release Flash" command in JackFlash
  56.     3.  Install the OmniSky software
  57.     4.  Run RemoveFP
  58.     5.  Run JackFlash and move files back to Flash.
  59.  
  60. Items which OmniSky had moved to Flash are safe to run in RAM.  They
  61. do not need to be moved back to Flash by JackFlash.
